Actress M Saroja passes away

Yester year senior comedian K A Thangavelu also referred as Danaal Thangavelu passed away in the year 1994. His wife is M Saroja aged 79 years. She is the sister of M Lakshmi Prabha who had acted as mother and sister of MGR.

For the last few months she was ailing. Yesterday afternoon she passed away due to heart attack at 4.30 p m at her residence situated at Masilamani Street in T Nagar.

She has a daughter called Sumathi. She took up acting at the age of 14. Director K Subramaniam introduced her in cinema. She donned the role of MGR's cousin in the film Sarvadhikari. Later on she continued to act in more than 300 films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages.

The most important film in her career was the film Kalayana Parisu in which she paired with her husband K A Thangavelu. On the 100th day celebrations of this film, both of them got married in Madurai Murugan Temple.The Tamil Nadu Government felicitated her with Kalaimamani Award in appreciation. Members of the film fraternity have paid their homage. The funeral rituals took place a few hours ago.
