In times when celebs are all about portraying the glitz and glamour, there are a few who spot the silver lining in dark times and put their vulnerability on display, for the world to learn from.

An upside of the otherwise abused social media, is that some celebrities are now shedding their inhibitions during heartaches and ailments as they try to find strength.

Grabbing headlines recently was cricketer Yuvraj Singh, earlier known only for his exuberant lifestyle and fancy indulgences, as he took to Twitter to share his challenging phase post the cancer diagnosis. With tweets like 'I'm recovering well.

Yes, its tough but tough times don't last tough men do!' and 'finally the hair has gone! But #livstrong #yuvstrong' – that captioned a picture of a bald Yuvi post his chemotherapy sessions.

Immensely popular Kolaveri star Dhanush is quite active on the micro-blogging site and adds a signature 'god bless' sign-off to all his tweets. A sample of his thoughts on Twitter is 'Some pple smile at other pple s misery. I smile right back at them 4 not knowin d purpose of being a human being. its called love. God bless'.

Actress Shriya Saran elaborates, "Such sites are a way to connect to folks who love and appreciate you. My tweets are just reciprocation and mutual admiration for my fans. Also, I like to keep my fans posted and it feels really special to be constantly connected to them."

Echoing similar thoughts is Ganesh Venkataraman, who says, "Internet is a strong medium. Knowing that thousands of impressionable youngsters are looking up to you, it becomes a responsibility to come across positively and evoke motivation and good thoughts."

One of country's top 10 celebs on Twitter, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali, says "Being a very positive person myself, I feel that Twitter is a brilliant medium to share your thoughts with positive and motivated people, who believe in you and look up to you.

Sending out affirmative thoughts or bringing a smile on someone's face is what I like to do. I just keep it real. Knowing that your words and thoughts can actually inspire, make someone's day or simply comfort is worth the deal."

One of her tweets reads 'Life is my biggest teacher and experience the lessons. When u have truly lived, u have learned well.'
